Crossville, TN:  About December 21, 2019, Wildwood Stable staff discovered their horse, Lightening, had a gunshot wound in his neck.  Upper Cumberland Veterinary Clinic began to treat the horse.

Lightening died of complications of the gunshot wound on January 25, 2019.  If you have any information on the person who committed this crime, please contact  Fairfield Glade Security.  Wildwood Stable is offering a reward for the arrest and conviction of the person who committed this crime.

Owner, Michelle Salazar said, “We are all heartbroken.  He was a special horse who was a favorite on our trail rides and the kids in the Standing Tall Life Skills Program. Who could shoot an innocent horse in his own pasture?”  At this time, it is unclear whether this was an accidental shooting by an illegal deer poacher or an intentional act.  Recently a shot near the dog park in Fairfield narrowly missed people with their pets.
